Serigraphs
Orignal fine art prints, created using traditional screenprinting techniques, and are a collaboration between the artist and printmaker.
The process begins with breaking down an image into separate colours. Colour separation involves analysing the image, selecting one colour at a time, and creating a black ink representation of that colour. The chromist (printmaker who separates the colours) works together with the artist (who may choose toemphasise certain colours or design elements) to bring the subtleties of colour and texture to life.
The final colours are printed one after the other until the print is finished. Printing is a meticulous, manual process, wirh a different stencil/screen created for each colour of the final image. A serigraph can use as many as 25 colours/screens for a single print.
